Plot twist, it's actually great!

This ryokan was great with its authentic charm! The spacious rooms were comfortable, and the breakfast was a good blend of traditional Japanese and Western options. The staff was attentive. Don't miss the tea ceremony-it's a unique experience! Plus, the location is a mere 5-minute walk from the subway.

Truly enjoyed very good and excellent breakfasts.

The hotel was unique and the staff was polite, it had amazing location close to the metro station.

Had a good stay of three nights, everything was very comfortable. The location a short walk to city centre was ideal and nice. And a short walk to restaurants and bars, it was a bonus.

The only hiccup was that I couldn't check in early, though it didn't ruin my stay at all. I'd highly recommend trying the traditional breakfast because it was just delicious 😊

Extremely pleasant and tastefully decorated unit with a nice decor. Quiet and decent setting and eateries and restaurants walking distance to the hotel. The extremely helpful and very efficient staff and their quick responses...  

Does it deliver?

The service was really good , with attentive staff providing seamless assistance throughout our stay. The activities, such as the tea ceremony, deeply enriched our understanding of Japanese culture.

While the public baths were pleasant, they felt smaller compared to other places I've visited. The decor was charming but showed signs of aging.

Highly recommended for party. I stayed in the room that was maintained to high quality and available in a traditional japanese style. Location: the hotel was just off major attractions, restaurants, the imperial palace, and transport, food, grocery stores. Spent a nice...  

Staying in a traditional room was an very nice experience, upgraded with a serene garden and really good service from a genuinely caring staff. The public bath provided a tranquil escape, and participating in a matcha tea ceremony added a unique cultural touch. A highlight was enjoying a delicious traditional breakfast with locally caught fish, showcasing the attention to culinary details. The inviting atmosphere and warm hospitality were good, despite any minor inconveniences.

The room was spacious and super clean, with a lovely traditional vibe. The complimentary drinks in the fridge were a nice touch. I loved the tatami mats and the peaceful view of the courtyard. Plus, the Western-style bathroom was really convenient. Everything felt cozy and well thought out.

Nishiyama Ryokan, Established In 1953 offers a warm and tranquil atmosphere with beautifully decorated traditional Japanese rooms. The staff's kindness and accessibility made it easy for me to fully enjoy the lovely gardens and onsen....

Cozy room, friendly staff, this traditional ryokan style accommodation offered a good stay with a free delicious Japanese breakfast and a soothing hot bath, making it perfect after a long day of exploring, with convenient access from the nearby train station....  

Charming Stay with a Local Flair!

We loved exploring the area and discovered a fantastic nearby restaurant called Salao. The accommodations were comfortable, and the staff made a sincere effort to communicate despite language barriers. For a quaint experience in Kyoto, this spot is a hidden gem!

The best part was the traditional tea ceremony! Such a unique experience. The room was super cozy, but the tatami mats took some getting used to. Still, I loved staying here.
